What return pump do you run? Do you feel that it is too much/little flow and would you use it agian(if you had to buy it again)?

If it's not one thing it's another, I have been battling cyanobacteria for some time now and I really didn't want to treat the tank with antibiotics to remove it, so I turned to Dr Tims products in hopes to get rid of this nasty infestation.

When Luke and I were at one of SFVR club meetings, Dr Tim was there giving a talk about aquarium test kits, but when the floor was open for questions it quickly turned to his products. A question was asked about cyano and apparently he has a schedule of products that claim to get rid of this stuff. Another person in the audiance spoke up and saying that it worked.

So a month and a half, two months later I contact Dr Tim(I know, I like to research and be sure before I jump in to anything) And because he doesn't allow anyone in his lab, I had meet him at the jack in the box in Moorpark Smile

I bought an 8oz bottle of re-fresh and a 32oz bottle of Waste Away. It wasn't cheap, I ended up spending $61 for this stuff.

The schedule that he set for me is 3 separate doses 2 days apart of Re-Fresh at 2.6oz each, then 2 days later start with 1oz of Waste Away and if the tank doesn't cloud up 2 days later increase to 2oz, then 3oz and then oz. I have to clarify but I think at that point I'm adding 4oz a week from here on out.

I'm going to blow the dust off the DSLR and start snapping some pictures.

Last weekend I blew off all the cyano and this is what has grown back. Dr Tim says to blow off as much cyano as possible before starting so I will do so, only leaving 1 patch to see if it will erode away. I also took a pic of a patch of hair algae to see if it does anything to that.

This is the patch that I am going to leave:

    Here's the patch of HA:

Here's a 10 day follow up. After making it through the 3 treatments of the re-fresh, and 3 treatments of waste away, here is a pic of the one patch of cyano that I left alone.

    This is before treatment:

and this is 10 days into the treatment.

an obvious conclusion is that the cyano looks thicker and fuller than before and it appears to be pulling apart.

However what you don't see is that the places that I blew the cyano off of hasn't came back, this past weekend I would have been blowing patches like you see in the picture off from everywhere. and to be fair Dr Tim said that I should remove as much as I can before starting the treatment.

I'm hoping that progress continues because there are patches of cyano throughout the tank that I can't get to with a turkey baster, so hopefully in the long term it will all disappear.

From my experience with it it took about 3 weeks before the cyano started noticbly going away.
